. . . That My Garden Is, In the Fall, Still Producing!!!

I went out to my garden this morning to see how it was doing this 2nd day of October and I was blessed with green beans, tomatoes, green peppers, and Jack-be-little pumpkins!  How wonderful it is to still gather produce from my garden!  The Lord has blessed me wonderfully with this garden.  I have been able to have fresh produce for myself and for friends and neighbors, even though I didn't plant until the beginning of June.  Enjoy the pictures!

The tomatoes grew like crazy, totally killed the cheap-o cages I bought (you can't even see them in the mad rush of tomatoes that I have, but they are there, I promise!).  Here are several views of the tomato plants.  This first is supposed to be a yellow pear tomato, but the tomatoes are about 1 1/2" in diameter and round and red, not at all pear shaped or yellow.  This plant has taken over its box and the three foot space between it and the next box.

The box in the corner is 4' by 8', and has 4 tomato plants in it - 2 early girls, which barely produced anything, a Moscow tomato plant, which is beginning to produce some nice medium size tomatoes, and a cherry tomato plant, which is producing the same tomato as the yellow pear.  For some reason I don't think I got either a cherry or a yellow pear, but I don't know what I did get instead.  They are delicious tomatoes though!

This is the back edge of the box above.  From the black edge of the garden box to the fence at the back of the picture is about 10', and from the right side of the garden box to the fence on the right side of the picture is about 3', and all of this space is covered with tomato plants!  I think I picked about 50 small tomatoes this morning and one large one.

Here are the green beans.  Next year I will plant more so I can can them.  This year they provided enough that I could have a handful of fresh green beans almost every day.  It was wonderful!

Here are my jack-be-little pumpkins, the ones that I did not pick yet.  They are still growing.  In the back right corner of the box is a squash plant.  It produces something like a zucchini, except that it is round instead of long and skinny.  Delicious!!

And here are the peppers.  I picked four this morning, this one was too small to pick.  I sure hope it doesn't freeze this week!

The eggplant has produced wonderfully, and if you look close enough you can see lots of flowers, which will hopefully produce more eggplants before dying.  I want to try Mom's eggplant meatball recipe!!

And finally, here are the carrots.  I have been thinning them all summer long, and I have had several delicious baby carrots to eat as I thinned them.  I can't wait to pick and eat some of these!  I am sure they will be delicious!

I forgot to take pictures of the acorn squash.  There are about a dozen between the two bunches of plants, and I look forward to the time when they are ready to pick.

I am very grateful for the wonderful garden I have had this year, and for all that I have learned about gardening!  Also, I am grateful for the wonderful friend who helped me plant the garden, and who has shared in the harvest.  Next year will be even better!!!

I should have taken the pictures before picking all the tomatoes, so you could see how beautiful it was, but I didn't think of it until a few hours later. Oh, well. Maybe next time!

Wow! Fun. I know where to go for veggies. I thought I commented before, but I didn't sign in with an identity.
