. . . for Military Time

Here is my fun little story.  I have been struggling with a cold and lack of sleep from major events happening in my life.  Sunday night I was so tired that I could not stay awake until a reasonable hour, and I fell asleep around 5:45 p.m.  I slept very deeply, and woke up to see that my alarm clock said 8:22.  I panicked! I was supposed to be at work by 8:00, I didn't remember my alarm clock going off, or turning it off, I didn't feel well still, although I was rested, and I was way behind schedule. I ran to the living room, picked up my phone and called my boss, who didn't answer the phone.  Then I called the secretary at work, and she didn't answer either.  That was very odd, usually if the secretary cannot answer the phone someone else in the organization answers it for her.  As I was puzzling over nobody answering their phones I glanced at the atomic clock in the living that also shows the day of the week.  It showed "SU" for Sunday.  I was really confused then.  I remembered going to church and doing other activities on Sunday morning, so it really couldn't be Sunday morning could it?  Did I dream I had gone through a Sunday only to wake up and really live it?  Then I looked at my watch:
I had not dreamt my Sunday activities, I had not slept the whole night through.  The proof was on my watch (the picture above was taken a day later, so ignore the date).  I had mistaken 8:22 in the evening for 8:22 in the morning.  Military time proved that to me.  If it were morning the watch would have said 8:22.  Because it was evening the watch said 20:22, which translates to 8:22 p.m.  Whew!!!!  The long summer nights where it is still light outside at 8:22 p.m. and the cold I was fighting had really done a number on my head! So, I went back to bed and slept for 8 or 10 more hours.  What a blessing it is that I use military time on my watch.  I would have continued to panic for a lot longer if it were not for that.  I am very grateful for a time method, I guess you would call it, that distinguishes between morning and afternoon without having to add other information to differentiate the time of day. That is one reason I will probably never switch to a more delicate and feminine looking watch.  I need all the help I can get when it comes to time, and military time is a great blessing!
